Ingredients
- 12 slider buns (soft, preferably brioche or potato rolls)
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works beautifully)
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing (homemade or store-bought)
- 8 slices bacon, cooked until crispy and chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Substitution Tips: If you want to lighten up the sliders a bit, swap mayonnaise for Greek yogurt or use a lighter ranch dressing. For a different cheese profile, Monterey Jack or mozzarella melt nicely. And if bacon isn’t your thing, smoked turkey or even crispy pancetta can be delicious alternatives.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish or sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a medium bowl, combine the shredded chicken, mayonnaise, ranch dressing, and garlic powder. Mix well until the chicken is evenly coated. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact as sets.
- Layer the bottom halves of the buns in the baking dish, close together but not overlapping.
- Spread the chicken ranch mixture evenly over the bottom buns.
- Sprinkle the chopped bacon on top of the chicken mixture, distributing it evenly.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, making sure each slider has a generous amount.
- Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese layer.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with a pinch of garlic powder and brush this over the tops of the buns. This step ensures a golden, flavorful finish.
- Cover the baking dish loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
- Let the sliders cool for a few minutes before serving, so they hold together nicely.
One thing Mama Lou always reminded me was not to rush the baking step. She said, “Good things take time,” and that little extra 5 minutes uncovered makes all the difference—the cheese melts perfectly, and the tops get that lovely crunch.
