Learn how to make delicious Blueberry Brie Jalapeño Poppers. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 12 fresh jalapeño peppers, halved and seeded
  • 6 oz brie cheese, rind removed and cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a touch of added sweetness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 12 slices of prosciutto or thinly sliced bacon (optional for wrapping)
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for baking

If you want to keep it vegetarian, feel free to skip the prosciutto or bacon and simply bake the poppers as is—they’ll still be bursting with flavor. For a dairy alternative, goat cheese can be a tangy substitute for brie, though it won’t melt quite the same way. When I first made these with Ouma, we tried them both ways and loved how versatile they were.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with olive oil.
  2. Carefully halve the jalapeños lengthwise and use a spoon to remove the seeds and membranes, unless you prefer extra heat—in which case, leave a few seeds for a spicier kick. I remember Ouma’s bold palate always pushing us to keep the heat alive!
  3. In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and honey (if using). Mix until smooth and well blended.
  4. Gently fold in the fresh blueberries and brie cubes into the cream cheese mixture, trying not to crush the berries. This step always makes me think of Mama Lou’s patience in the kitchen—handling ingredients with care, knowing that love is in the details.
  5. Spoon the filling into each jalapeño half, filling them generously but neatly.
  6. If using prosciutto or bacon, wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a slice, securing with a toothpick if needed.
  7. Arrange the poppers on your prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  8. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the jalapeños are tender and the cheese filling is bubbly and slightly golden on top.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves if desired for an herbaceous touch.

This recipe always reminds me of how food can be an adventure. The first time I made these for a holiday gathering, Ouma and I nervously watched everyone’s reactions. To our delight, the poppers disappeared in minutes, sparking so many compliments and requests for the recipe—proof that a little creativity and heart go a long way!
