Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 and 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chopped Snickers bars
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped peanuts
For a nut-free version, you can substitute almond butter for peanut butter and omit the chopped peanuts. If you’re short on time, store-bought caramel sauce works well, but homemade adds a touch of warmth and authenticity.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir together until well mixed.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth. Stir in boiling water until well combined (the batter will be thin).
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat peanut butter and butter together in a medium bowl until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream, beating until smooth and fluffy.
- Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with half of the peanut butter frosting and sprinkle with half of the chopped Snickers.
- Top with the second cake layer. Spread the remaining frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the cake and sprinkle with remaining Snickers pieces and chopped peanuts.
- Allow the cake to set for about 30 minutes before serving, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
