Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh cranberry juice (unsweetened)
- 2 cups apple cider (preferably fresh-pressed)
- 1 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice (optional, for added sweetness)
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 orange, thinly sliced
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 1 cup sparkling water or club soda (to add fizz before serving)
- Fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs for garnish
If you want to make it a bit lighter, you can swap maple syrup with agave nectar or reduce the sweetener altogether depending on how tart your juices are. For a kid-friendly version, keep the sparkling water, but for adults, a splash of ginger ale or even a little spiced rum can work wonders.
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the cranberry juice, apple cider, orange juice, and pineapple juice.
- Add the cinnamon stick and whole cloves to the pot for a warm, spiced aroma.
- Gently heat the mixture over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling—about 10 minutes. This allows the spices to infuse without losing the fresh flavors.
- Remove the pot from heat and stir in the maple syrup or honey until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
- Add the sliced orange and apple to the punch to infuse more fruit flavor and for a beautiful presentation.
- Let the punch cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This step is key—Mama Lou always said letting the flavors “rest” made all the difference.
- Just before serving, remove the cinnamon stick and cloves, then stir in the sparkling water or club soda for a delightful fizz.
- Pour into a punch bowl or individual glasses, garnish with fresh cranberries and rosemary sprigs for that festive touch.
A little tip from my kitchen: when warming the punch, don’t rush with high heat. Slow and steady allows the spices to bloom fully. And if you’re making this ahead, I’ve found the flavors deepen beautifully overnight—so feel free to prepare it the day before your gathering.
