Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups egg noodles
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Feel free to experiment with these ingredients. For instance, you could substitute Greek yogurt for the sour cream for a healthier twist, or use ground turkey instead of beef for a lighter option.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent.
- Season the beef mixture with salt and black pepper, then stir in the tomato sauce. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and cottage cheese. Stir the mixture into the cooked noodles, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Layer half of the noodle mixture into the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the beef mixture over the noodles, then repeat the layers.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese, and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
