Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Feel free to substitute the apple cider vinegar with rice vinegar for a slightly different tang, or use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a richer flavor.
Instructions
- Begin by slicing the chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces. Season them with salt and pepper, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add the minced garlic, cooking until itβs fragrant and golden, about 1 minute.
- Lower the heat and pour in the honey, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to combine and let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Pour this into the sauce and stir until it thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce until each piece is well coated. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired, and serve hot.
