Learn how to make delicious Cinnamon Donut Bread. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

For those looking to make the recipe a bit healthier, you can swap the granulated sugar for coconut sugar and use almond milk instead of whole milk. These substitutions won’t compromise the deliciousness of the final product.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the bread dense.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the ground cinnamon and brown sugar.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter. Repeat with the remaining batter and cinnamon sugar on top.
  7. Use a knife to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  9. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. This was Mama Lou’s trick to ensure the flavors meld perfectly.
