Learn how to make delicious Cheesy Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak Casserole Recipe. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Feel free to substitute the ground beef with thinly sliced steak if you prefer a more traditional cheesesteak texture. The mozzarella and provolone blend can be adjusted to your taste; some might like a sharper taste with more provolone, while others might prefer the creaminess of mozzarella.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and sauté the onions until they become translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the green and red bell peppers, cooking until they’re soft, around another 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Return the vegetables to the skillet with the beef. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine the flavors.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream with half of the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese. Pour this mixture over the beef and vegetable mixture, stirring until everything is evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Top with the remaining mozzarella and provolone cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly with a golden-brown crust.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully.

As you prepare this casserole, let the aromas transport you to cozy evenings filled with laughter and storytelling, much like those with Mama Lou and Ouma.
